Year 5 Always Steps to Success:

  • Correct punctuation (full stops, capital letters, question marks, exclamation marks, commas in a list, inverted commas, and apostrophes).
  • Ambitious vocabulary (adjectives, adverbs, verbs).
  • Neat handwriting
  • Paragraphs
  • Range of sentence structures (simple, compound, complex).

 Year 5 new learning:

  • Relative clauses
  • Parenthesis
  • Sophisticated conjunctions
  • Figurative language
  • Embedded clauses
